Good location, very lively, not very luxury!

We stayed as a family of four in late June early/July 2025 for one week.
Overall the holiday was positive, and we did have a nice time, though with some reservations I will outline.
Firstly, the positives:
The village is in a nice location, and - providing you have a car - has great access to lots... of lovely towns and activities in the lake Garda region, or even further afield to Verona or Venice if you are so inclined.
lake Garda itself was fantastic: we spent a lot of time exploring and doing paddle boarding/pedalos/swimming, particularly on the less busy side. Although this isnt on site...
The pool area is good fun (if too busy, see below) and the waterslides when working were good fun, and the queues reasonable.
The pizza restaurant was delicious and the eating options and market were pretty reasonably priced (we have stayed in places where the mark-up for the captive market is extortion which refreshingly wasnt the case here! 6 euros for an Aperol Spritz and 10 euros for a nice pizza is better than we would pay at home!)
The kids enjoyed the lively evening entertainment, and there was always lots on.
The negatives:
No football pitches/tennis courts/basketball locations. these seem almost standard at this sort of place so were a bit surprised.
It is super busy. We thought we would miss some of this by arriving in June, but the main streets leading to and from the pool were constantly busy, and although the pools were fun they were incredibly packed. Id say the pool complexes are not big enough for the number of guests. (One of the slides was not working intermittently while we were there)
We used the provided QR code to report a fault with the dishwasher: in itself I have no issues with a utility breaking down, but despite a confirmation email no one came to deal with it. Eventually I went to reception and the problem is fixed, but we lost two days of dishwasher use waiting.
The biggest issue we had was the quality of the lodge, and especially the privacy on site.
We have stayed in many equivalent outdoor village/camping/lodges with a range of providers (Eurocamp/Yelloh Village/Les Castles/Ciela Villages) and know from experience that its almost impossible to know what to expect in this regard. Having not stayed with Hu before we booked their top-of-the-line accommodation (Stay Excellence) : we looked at the pictures on the website which looked lovely, and with experience suggesting more space comes with the more "luxury" accommodation options.
The interior of the accommodation was a bit tired and disrepaired. Nothing that would make me check out immediately, and Im generally not a super fussy person. But the blurb for the Excellence reads as follows "... your exclusive refuge, where every detail represents elegance and character. The refined interiors, the stylish finishes ....". I have attached some photos to the review. The grouting was dirty and black, half of the edging round the kitchen dishwasher door panel had been removed (I cut myself - not seriously, but still - on the sharp edge), there were various dirty marks round the walls. The tiny provided sofa was covered in a wrinkled thick plastic coating meaning it was next to impossible to sit on comfortably especially in the heat: you get stuck to it. You may read and think "its a family holiday lodge in a big campsite what did you expect" but I have paid less and stayed in better, in other places, and Im not sure it could be described as stylish or refined, and it 1500 or more per week thats a lot of money. To be fair the bed was bigger than normal, and not wrapped in plastic as we have had before, but luxury it was not.
The biggest drawback for us, and why we probably wouldnt return, was the way the "village" is laid out, and the lack of privacy at the lodges. Almost every accommodation is laid out along paths in straight lines. The site is very busy - which is fine - but the result of this is that most of these paths are throroughfairs leading to the market/pool/bar areas. Although they are car free, golf carts go up and down the roads all day long. Most accommodations - even the larger more luxury options - have a terrace that leads immediately onto these roads. In some places there maybe a meter wide strip of grass, but in general theres very little by way of grass, or hedging, separating the accommodations from each other or the road (see attached picture). This means if you are barbecuing, or having dinner or a drink on your terrace - which for us is the whole point of this sort of holiday - there will be crowds of people passing you constantly with nothing to screen you off. I didn't enjoy this, and it would prevent me returning.
Overall, if you want a bus, lively atmosphere in great location and aren't super worried about having space to yourself this place has a lot going for it. If you seek, quieter or more calm and private holiday with your family, Id probably look elsewhere.
