2* at best. Avoid at all costs. Appalling customer service.

We reserved a two-week stay in Camping la Plage on the basis of its advertised 4* rating. This was a mistake.
Navigating the entrance and barrier with a caravan or any large unit is the stuff of nightmares. It involves a right-angled manoeuvre between two rows of parked cars. The access roads within... the site are also very narrow with extremely tight turns to the pitches.
The touring pitches are incredibly small and tightly-packed together. We witnessed motorhomes manoeuvring for long periods in attempting to access the pitches. Given their proximity to each other, privacy is an issue on many pitches and conversations from adjoining pitches are clearly audible. In most cases, the pitches are so small that cars must be parked in another area. The touring pitches are located adjacent to the road and traffic noise can be intrusive.
Sanitary facilities are poor. The toilets are dated, and tiles are cracked in places. An unpleasant aroma permeates the entire toilet block. Urinals have no privacy. Some shower mixer units have become loose. The toilet block is in darkness throughout the night as the lights don't work. Attention to detail appears to be absent. The wooden panels outside the toilets do not appear to have been treated for many years. The so-called "free" WiFi remained dysfunctional, despite pointing this out to the reception staff.
During our stay, we had a particularly poor customer service experience with the so-called 'manager' of the facility. When a motorhome parked within a metre of our seating, (contrary to any normal caravanning etiquette), the manager's 'solution' was for us to move to another pitch. He refused us a reimbursement if we decided to leave, indicating that it was "our problem, not his". When we indicated that we wished to make a complaint to the owners of the facility, he refused to provide the identity or contact details of the owners. An email I sent requesting the same information was ignored. In over forty years of caravanning, we have never experienced such poor customer service.
In summary, it is unclear as to when this site was last inspected, and on what basis or criteria it was awarded four stars. It is certainly nowhere near to the quality of a four-star campsite. This apparently casual awarding of four stars undermines confidence in the grading process. This site is, in our opinion, two-star at best, and the customer service is undeserving of any star whatsoever.
Do yourself a favour. Avoid this site at all costs.
