Wonderful stay here, loads to keep the kids entertained for hours.
Getting there/away
We arrived by direct train from Paris to Onzain, taking just under 2 hours. From there we caught an Uber for a 10 minute ride, paying about €20 as taxis were about 10 miles away. Our taxi back, which was prebooked,... didn’t turn up on the Sunday morning so would suggest using Uber instead.
Campsite and accommodation
Site was very clean, hours of fun to be had at the playground. Toilet blocks all near, regardless of where your pitch was. We stayed in a ‘comfort’ apartment. It’s fine in summer but would have been a bit cramped for 5 if it had rained everyday. Would suggest using the main shower block if you have kids as there’s more space to help clean hair. Hot showers, hurray. Had an inspection just before leaving with a pre-arranged time, which was fine. Previous reviewer mentioned there was no mop- also found this to be the case!
We were able to rent bikes- 2 had carriers attached for the kids (no trailers) but there was no bike helmet that fit the baby (was for age 4+) so this didn’t feel as safe, and would be an easy thing for the campsite to buy.
Staff
Just amazing staff. Cannot emphasise this enough, because it completely made our holiday. Christine and her husband made us feel so welcome and were so helpful, even offering a lift to the nearest supermarket, 6km away. Also the gentleman behind the desk at reception who kindly drove us in his car to the station as the taxi didn’t turn up was kinder than words.
Pool
the pool area is fantastic- kids had a great time on the slides, under the buckets and particularly the main indoor pool was warm enough for our almost 1year old to stay in a good 40 minutes. The floor is made up of small stuck together rubbery material which is ideal for grip and much safer than tiles.
Food
The bar doesn’t seem to be open at lunch, which probably curbed our ice cream habit but meant we had to think of alternatives- also they wanted a reservation for evening food. The goats cheese and honey pizza was amazing!
Local area
By bike, we managed to visit the chateau near Onzain and in Les Montils there’s a miniature railway with a playground about 5km away in Les Montils at €2.50 per person per ride (opens late afternoon when we were there, around 15:00). Also the patisserie in Candé was just amazing.
