The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

What an amazing campsite, set in the French Alps, just a stones throw away from the mighty Mont Blanc, and surrounded by those slightly lesser, but no less impressive, collection of peaks. A real case of getting up close and personal to a glacier, and ideal if you are planning a route through the outrageously... priced tunnel (Travellers from GB, B, NL, D, etc would do better to drive through Switzerland). We were greeted by a superb site manager, who went out of his way to speak English to the language lazy brits, and dealt very efficiently with check in, site overview and facilities. The site itself was clean and tidy, although a little wild with some low hanging branches that could cause damage to a caravan if you are not careful. Spacious pitches mean you don't feel as though you are headed in to a cattle shed, but make sure you are able to reach an electric outlet, if required. The on site restaurant is amazing, and offers a great range of food (Vegetarian is limited) at very sensible prices, and the food tastes devine. The restaurant is located at the side of a small lake stocked with some considerable sized fish Services can be a little slow during busy periods. Water, washing and toilet facilities are in dire need of modification. Although the site has a number of water points spread through the complex, none of them worked, and it was by sheer fluke that we positioned ourself close enough to the facilities block to fill our water barrel. If you don't have a hose and connector it can take a long time to fill a 40litre water carrier from a couple of saucepans. Whilst clean, the showers were diabolical, offering the nearest dribble of water pressure, and the facilities are semi mixed, a man's side and woman's side, reducing privacy if this is a concern to you. So, in summary I would recommend a visit, but do expect a few shortfalls.
