Not ‘Paradise’ at all and not suitable for motorhomes or camper vans

We booked two nights at this campsite in August. Although their website claims that they have motorhome pitches, in our experience (as well as that of our fellow British campers) there are very few pitches suitable for a motorhome. The pitches in the main area of the campsite - the ones you see in the... pictures on their website - are mostly cramped and inaccessible via the very narrow and winding pathway through. There is no drive over chemical toilet outlet on site and the only way you can access the clean water outlet is by reversing down a very narrow and steep path to the services area - which is usually busy with people and children.
In spite of these shortcomings, at €72 for 2 nights, this was the most expensive campsite we stayed in all summer. It was also the most noisy campsite we stayed on all summer with very loud social gatherings going on until the early hours of the morning. In fact, our experience was so bad that we left after one night even though they refused to refund any of our money. However, I haven’t shared the worst part of our experience yet…
The main area of the campsite was fully booked so we were directed to an open area of grass pitches. We actually drove past the area on our first attempt as we didn’t recognise that we had arrived. We later observed many other camper van and motorhome owners do exactly the same thing. We also observed more than one leave without returning. This area was simply an open field with a bouncy castle in the centre next to a single electric hook up post. There were trailing cables leading from this in all directions with heavy vehicles driving over them.
When I went back to the reception to complain, we were informed that there were other electricity hook up options available. Unbelievably, we were told to hook up to an electric extension lead - along with two other couples. Upon investigation, this extension lead was attached to the fuse box of the Snack bar which was at some distance on the other side of the hedge. There were also many other cables also attached to this fuse box. We had actually been charged €12 for an electric hook up upon booking! We didn’t feel that this situation was at all safe and hence left the site early the next morning despite losing our money because the reception staff claimed that the booking company we had used (Pitchup.com) had our money rather than the campsite. This was untrue, but gives you even more of an insight to the integrity of the staff and standards of this campsite. At the time of writing this review, you can no longer make a booking for this campsite via the Pitchup.com website.
We would never choose to return to this site and cannot recommend it to any motorhome or camper van owners. Every other experience of the campsites we booked in France this summer was extremely positive. This one was the only negative experience and only negative review I have had to write. I have tried but failed to add the photos to this review. If I can add them later I will.
