Miserable site

Tired and hot, I found this site just off the A-road from Grenoble to Avignon, average price, but i was exhausted. The lady that checked me in was very polite, but it was as soon as i headed to find a pitch it became less hospitable. Small tents, with no electric are at the top of the site, on little... tracks off the circular road, on hard ground, squashed between trees. It is the south of France, so hard ground and dead trees can be excused, but to get to the facilities was quite an effort, either a long way round the roads, or down steep little paths in the embankments. The toilets were disgusting, filthy rubbish on the floor, no hand washing, along with showers, they were limited for the amount of people on the site(and i would say it was only a third full) The pool was tiny, more of a large bath, it was in a little enclosed area with mucky watered foot baths to get it. This was the first site I discovered the odd 'men are only allowed in pools wearing speedos' rule popular in france, i had been told no long shorts, so wore a shorter pair, only to be stopped at the gate by the owner to get a tirade of abuse, and the gate slammed shut on me. No pool for me then. There was free wi-fi, but signal was only right at the reception/shop/restaurant, great to be scowled at by the owner and listen as he insulted and sent away guests that had booked to visit. The staff seemed to spend a lot of time patrolling the site at high speed in gold carts, don't know what they were looking for, but maybe should have been cleaning the toilets, a strange Disco for about 8 people, with loud music and lights went on well into the night, and despite being at the furthest point away, was a real distraction to sleep.
To sum it up, was possibly gonna stay longer than a night, left the next day, such a shame, could be really nice, maybe if the owner spent more time cleaning and less time insulting guests it could be improved. Worst site out of dozens sampled in Europe.
