L’Evasion 10 night stay - UK family

We have just had a lovely stay here in August 2024. Quite a long review, but I’m trying to write one that I would have found helpful when booking!
Arrival to the site was good. The Eurocamp reps were friendly and welcoming - like other reviews say, they cannot speak English. However, we communicated... with no problem via our basic knowledge of French and Google translate. No problem at all, we don’t expect everyone to speak our language in their own country 🙂
We booked a Comfort Plus caravan with air conditioning for 2 adults and 2 children. On arrival to the accommodation, we initially felt a bit worried as it looked a bit tired from the outside - not much grounds maintenance and a unsightly old gas BBQ and gas bottle took centre place (the BBQ was perfectly clean, just old). However, upon entering the caravan we were very pleased. There was ample room for us all with two bedrooms, a bathroom and separate toilet. The kitchen had a gas hob, plenty of storage and a breakfast bar with stools that we could all sit round to eat. We also had an L-shaped sofa that provided a bit of a living room area. Storage throughout the caravan was absolutely fine. Two overhead cupboards above the beds and a large wardrobe with shelves. There are hooks to hang coats/ towels etc however we took some cheap door hangers that you place over the door to give us more hanging space.
Some of the fixtures and fittings are slightly tired and could do with some attention in places - the main bed slats were like paper and one broke on the first night after just placing our bag on it. The others popped out a few times as well and they are quite hard to get back in. The stools around the breakfast bar are in need of repair as they are coming away at the seems. The drawers in the kitchen are water stained and could do with the bottoms being changed - however none of this impacted our stay in any way, these are just suggestions to improve first impressions. The toilet could do with a blind as the caravans are fairly close together and despite the window being frosted, we still felt a bit on show!
The campsite itself was very nice - very quiet after 10:30pm although we weren’t that close to the entertainment so I couldn’t comment on the ones right next to the bar. The site had entertainment for the kids and families every night while we were there and there is an arcade for the kids as well that our two loved. The onsite restaurant is really good, the staff do speak English, but the menu isn’t difficult to translate. The site does have a shop that is part of the main bar - it is not a shop with fridges so don’t expect milk or chilled items, however there are plenty of useful ambient products available. There is also a Spar less than 10 minutes down the road that does great croissants too and has everything you need. The bar also sells fresh croissants, pain aux chocolats and baguettes which are very nice and didn’t ever run out while we were there. The swimming pool was a hit with our kids, they loved the slides! There is also a very sweet little babies lazy river with fountains and slides (indoor). There is a medium sized indoor pool and similar size outdoor pool with a very nice little shallow baby pool attached to it. The pool is also heated which was great. The rule about shorts wasn’t really enforced while we were there, but my husband’s shorts weren’t overly baggy or long. One life guard did tell him he wasn’t allowed in the pool with them on our second to last day, but the park kids club reps came out in baggy shorts and proceeded to jump in the pool so we didn’t pay much attention. We didn’t go to the Lagoon, however it looked very nice. The playground and slides for the kids was also really good.
Loads to do in the surrounding areas, the nearest town has a Super U supermarket which is where we went for all our food. It’s got some nice little restaurants and shops next to it, but not loads. You’re a quick drive to the nearest beaches and lots of little places to explore for nice bistros etc. As I’ve mentioned it is a French holiday destination so don’t expect to find the usual kids menus - lots of seafood and pizza seems to be very big here. You do need to drive, nothing seems to be in walking distance. You can however, hire bikes - lots of safe bike lanes and paths.
Overall we had a really good stay and would return, however we would aim to book one of the prestige units as they had full cooking facilities, way more room and generally more modern. One thing to note is that if you are looking for a Eurocamp holiday that is tailored for English speaking families, then this probably isn’t the holiday for you. The park is predominantly occupied and tailored to French tourists. We were the only Brits there for most of the holiday, which we don’t particularly mind as we only use the campsite as a base. We didn’t receive any information on arrival about the kids clubs and I’m not entirely sure they were even available to us. No interaction at all with the Eurocamp reps other than at check in, perhaps a quick check to ensure we were ok would have been nice, but this didn’t impact our holiday.
