Peaceful and calm

A very nice campsite, with splendid surroundings, suitable for both those who wish to sit and relax and those who want a bit more action. It's best attribute is the beautiful lake, which has the backdrop of the wooded hillsides, and opportuntities for swimming, fishing and boating. You can also hire bicycles... to investigate the surrounding small villages in this beautiful part of France. The camp site is well serve by a good selection of lodgings, from the spacious plots for 'real' campers, to small chalets and larger mobile homes. The facilities of the campsite were very clean and efficient, the toilets and hot showers were ample for the size of the site, being well designed and maintained. There is an attractive social centre, which has a good bar and good meals, and there were a number of entertainments while we were there, mostly musical but also a really spectacular firework display which was mounted across the other side of the lake which heightened the impact of it.The information bureau in the office was well stocked with local information and leaflets, and the young staff were very helpful. This was just as well, as when we were there the local 'Tourist Information Office' in the town had inexplicably closed for a number of weeks ('for staff holidays'), maybe this reflected the fact that the area was probably gearing up for the autumn and winter trade when everything switches over to other sports. I would recommend this holiday centre, which would be suitable for many levels of tourism, especially the active types as there are a number of places to visit, many walking routes and spectacular views from the higher grounds surrounding it.
