Remote, but pretty location......

We stayed here from the 4th-12th August 2017. After a very long drive, the last hour being very windy up and down hills we arrived at the site. We were met by a rep who directed us to our checking in point - no paperwork, so I was directed to the reception, who after a little shuffling found the necessary... paperwork to book us in to our 'safari' tent. We were advised that due to an electrical fault the pool was closed for the next few days - shame as it was about 30 degrees here.
We drove to the tent and opened it, being pleasantly surprised at the space we had. However, I was disappointed to find after the hours and hours of travel we had to make all our beds ourselves! On closer inspection I felt the tent hadn't been swept through and indeed on checking the fridge, I knew this was the case as it was still dirty. Not wanting to make a fuss - I cleaned it myself!
The toilet blocks were on first inspection ok, although out of 6 loos, only 1 had a seat. I was surprised to find that there were two toilet roll dispensers on the walls OUTSIDE of the loos, and once these had run out of paper you had to buy your own.
The on site shop was reasonably well equipped - but pricey. The nearest proper supermarket 40 minutes away.
The pool, once open, and slides were ok. Luckily our children were still young enough not to get bored. The equipment for facilities such as ping pong/tennis were all payable unless you had your own bats etc. The lake was warm and clean, the pedalos cost 12€ for an hour, and the kids had great fun fishing off them and jumping in the lake.
The majority of the staff spoke no English, some with a few words, some with none. One I came across was good. There was no way in which you knew who was in charge as they all were in the late teens/early 20's - I'd like to have seen badges on them with their names, flags on for the languages they speak, and perhaps their job title.
Going back to the beds - the night time weather was FREEZING and the bedding was insufficient for the weather. In the end we all had to sleep in our clothes as there wasn't enough bedding.
The evening entertainment was fun - if you're under 10. They did some kind of play after a disco for the youngsters, the play was in French so we had no idea what it was about. The bar area was sparse, no chairs or tables inside away from the evening chill, it was poorly decorated. There were plenty of games people to play, such as pool - but all had a charge.
The onsite snack bar is as it says it is. No frills, no surprises. The restaurant we didn't go in.
Having said all this, the children loved it! They loved the freedom this site gave them, it's safe and spacious, the lake and pool were great and they spent many an hour on/around them.
This is my opinion after having stayed in another French chain of campsites for the last four years. So, perhaps I'm being a little negative - I don't know. I do know however, that I will not return here. I mentioned the dirty fridge on check out and was greeted with an 'oh'.........
My suggestion to the owners/managers; please put loo seats on all loos, have some kind of long handled squeegee for us to scrape the shower floors free of muddy puddles. Renovate your bar area, making it nicer to relax in. Move the children's evening entertainement earlier into the evening to allow room for the bar to be used more functionally. Have a visible hierarchy of staff members, badges on their uniforms.
