Oke, not very modern or special. And sadly with a real “French” manager!

This camping is situated near the Mediterranean coast. The little harbor is walking distance, so is a large supermarket. The campsite offers different options for caravans and campers with nice private places featuring trees to get some shade from the sun. They also host a number of cabins for different... sizes of families (some new, some older). They are not to spacious but most of the time you will be outside. There is a nice playground for the kids with a slide, table tennis tables, basketball court, etc. Of course there is a swimming pool with separate jacuzzi area which is nice. Only negative experience; we selected a new type of cabin and when we arrived we were greeted with not the greatest of French hospitality (and sadly the well know “arrogance”); a “manager” of sorts (who only speaks French of course) told me it was impossible that I rented that particular cabin and started blaming Booking.com. When I showed him I booked on the campings website and not via Booking.com, more French discussions happened and this continued at the front desk. Long story short; as a visitor you are hoping to feel welcome and if THEY make a mistake, the best approach in my view would be welcoming your new guests, hoping they had a good trip and then apologizing that there was a problem with the reservation but you have a proposal to fix it. Now we ended up in a half French, half English discussion on who’s fault it was that we booked (and payed for in full…) a cabin that was not finished. But in the end it worked out and we got an older type cabin, but with some more space. And the Belgium employee at the desk seemed to have the right mentality and decided to apologize for the error that was made by the camp site.
On our way back to the airport we had a similar experience. We were greeted by the same guy driving his golf car. He started speaking in French to me again. Sadly I did not master the language in the six days we spent in France. One would think he would ask if we had a nice stay and wishing us a safe trip. But no; “Checkout is in 1,5h from now!?”. Clearly he was agitated that we were leaving, not knowing we anticipated and checked out at the front desk the day before. Another French discussion… Basically; we just ignored it and what you end up with is a pretty nice campsite but not something special to drive a long way for!
