Excellent holiday. Beautiful area. Superb pool. Clean accommodation.

Our teenagers chose this holiday and we were a bit worried, but actually, it was perfect for what we wanted.
Due to bad traffic, we missed the welcome from Reception as we arrived too late (it closed at 8pm), but there was an envelope waiting for us and our accommodation was unlocked. We visited Reception... several times during our stay and the staff were ALL very helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble.
We stayed in a Bahia Premium cottage mobile home, which we were glad about. It had air con, which was used a lot as we had a fortnight of very hot weather. It also had a coffee machine, 2 tvs, dishwasher, and wifi for 3 devices. On arrival, all the kitchen equipment is placed on the kitchen table so that you know you have the correct number of items. You also have packs of bedding to make the beds. They do NOT provide duvet covers. The mobile was immaculately clean and well equipped. It had everything we needed and was very modern. The covered terrace was great for evening meals. The gas bbq was clean on arrival and we used it every night as there is no oven- only a hob. There is an Aldi 500m from the campsite which us open 8 am to 8 pm in high season and it is well stocked.
The pool was fantastic. It was clean and safe. The slides were excellent, the best we've ever been to, and our two teenagers were well entertained. It was good that no food was permitted at the pool area, and saving sunbeds was also not allowed. It meant there were always sunbeds available. If we had younger children, we'd have been glad of the lifeguards too. Be warned, they are very strict on men and boys wearing fitted trunks, not baggy swim shorts! You will be asked to leave the pool if you do not have fitted shorts!
We also made use of the laundry on site which was helpful in meaning we didn't need to pack as many clothes. Also the price ( €5 for a washing machine, €1 for 10 mins drier)) was fair and cheaper than other campsites that we've stayed at, which have been very expensive.
The campsite as a whole was very clean and the security teams were excellent. Friendly, but checking everyone had wristbands and keeping us safe.
The toilet, showers and washing up areas for people in tents, campers and caravans looked brand new and were kept very clean.
We had a fantastic day out at Lac de Hourtin. There's a fantastic watersports area and beach with supervised swimming. There's a Parc Adventure (Go Ape) there too.
Also, Montalivet is a thriving town with an excellent market in the mornings. If oysters are your thing, there are several stalls at the market! We went on a Friday morning and it was fab. Lots to eat, drink and buy. Plenty of lovely bars and restaurants in Montalivet and we also went to Soulac Sur Mer, which was lovely too.
We had no negatives except the 3 hour delay to board the expensive ferry from Royan to Le Verdon (€52 for a car and 2 adults and 2 children). We drive home via Bordeaux through the stunning Medoc wine region which we preferred and was only €7 more on the tolls. From Saintes to Montalivet, via Bordeaux took approx 2.5 hours which is about the same time as going via the ferry when you include driving to the port, boarding the ferry and then driving to Saintes.
